Is it possible to create a simple separate app, based on message window feature of MP? Or, maybe, extend a message window. It can be a very useful thing for a soundengineers, who work with their ears.

If it is possible (I think a main part of code is done) - I can post here some thoughts and suggestions about it.

What type of devices (hardware) were you thinking of ?

PC laptops. Maybe Android devices in further.

I just found this free app. https://sourceforge.net/projects/lanmsngr/

It's not been updated since 2012, but looks pretty good.

There appears to be quite a few free PC apps out there for LAN chat.

Hey!

One solid app we use is an app called ChatBox. While it's simple, that's it's benefit as it works 99.99% of the time, and only issues we have faces is when we forgot to allow it to access to the network to send messages.

It also has a neat little 'call' function to help get the attention of backstage when they are messing up.
The ability to ping who else is online is useful too!
